Well the move is over (more or less) and everyone lived to tell the tale except for....well nevermind. When a heavy snowfall postponed the move on Saturday, we took advantage of the extra time and repainted the lower floor as well. Here are the numbers:
Rooms painted: 9
Gallons of paint: 14
Rolls of tape: 7.5
Herniated discs: maybe 2
Sore elbows: too many to count
On the Friday night before the move we noticed it was getting a little too cold for comfort in the house. This was because the pilot light on the furnace had gone out. Attempts to light said pilot were unsuccessful resulting in a call to a technician (at 3 am that is). He successfully lit the furnace on his first attempt (figures). Turns out that the previous owners had not bothered to have the furnace serviced in the last 12 years.
Thanks go to Nick, my cousin Amy's boyfriend, who subsequently fixed all things furnace related the following day by brushing the multiple layers of dust from the AC coils, thereby saving us major $$$.
The day has finally arrived - the bank draft is off to the lawyer's office and we're moving around the apartment anxiously waiting for the phone to ring. This is feeling like it's taking forever at this point. As soon as we get the word though (sometime within the next 2 hours) we're off to the paint store to grab our 8 gallons of paint (there's a LOT of purple to cover) and then to the new place! Have I mentioned we REALLY want the lawyer to call?
Keep you posted....
